GUWAHATI: The woman who killed her husband and mother-in-law, cut the bodies into pieces, and stored them in the fridge for objecting to her extra-marital affair has been arrested. The brutality took place in Assam's Noonmati. Bandana Kalita and her boyfriend Dhanti Deka were arrested. The information about the murder that took place seven months ago came to light after the woman was arrested.

Bandana Kalita's husband Amarjyoti and mother-in-law Shankari Dey were killed. The woman testified that she killed both of them with the help of her boyfriend on August 17 last year. After the murder, the body was cut into pieces and kept in the fridge. Three days later, the woman and her boyfriend took the body parts to Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, 150 km from Guwahati, and dumped them, police said.

Amarjyoti and Bandana got married years ago. The problems started when Amarjyoti came to know about Bandana's bond with Dhanti Deka, and the relationship continued despite the ban. Four of the five buildings named after Shankari Dey were rented out. Shankari Dey's brother was looking after their finances. Bandana was also unhappy about this. Meanwhile, Amarjyoti and Shankari Dey decided to end their relationship with Bandana. Bandana then decided to kill both of them.

After the murder, Bandana lodged a police complaint that her husband and mother-in-law were missing. While the police investigation was going on, Bandana filed another complaint. The complaint was that Shankari Dey's brother was stealing the properties. Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation and found that Bandana had withdrawn Rs 5 lakh from the mother-in-law's account using her ATM card. Then, when Bandana was taken into custody and interrogated, the murder came to light.
