THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state police chief Anil Kant reasserted about showing no grace to people in the department involved in business with gang criminals. The chief said about using BUDS ACT to take action against people with tainted history in service. Mr. Kant was speaking at a meeting called for higher officials in the police department.
In the meeting, the chief asked the DIGs and SPs to take action against officers found having dubious connections with gang criminals and also told them to move ahead with punitive actions without giving any stock to the service ranks held by the officer.
With the meeting going further, the police chief said about the forces not productively implementing the BUDS ACT in the state. Also came the suggestion to install more CCTV cameras in places that are generally considered dingy and remote.
But contrary to it, news surfaced about the department dropping charges against 59 tainted officers who were on the verge of getting dismissed from service. The unholy nexus of politicians and other echelons from the police forces are said to have made the savior act for stalling the procedures. Some police officers, who are under the watch of CBI are also getting a free run in the department. After the current meeting, the state looks ahead if the police chief can walk his talk.
