KOZHIKODE: The Human Rights Commission has informed that the police have not found any evidence to make anyone responsible in the incident of the suicide of a tribal youth Viswanathan in the Kozhikode Medical College. The investigation is in progress. The chairman of the commission also stated that the police informed that there are no CCTV cameras in the part of the medical college hospital where the incident took place. ACP K Sudarshan, the investigating officer, submitted the report to the Human Rights Commission on Tuesday.

The complaints raised by the family are also being investigated. According to the report submitted to the commission, the scientific examination of the CCTV footage is underway. Following this, the commission directed that the investigation should be completed quickly.

Viswanathan, a resident of Paravayal colony of Wayanad was found hanging on the premises of the Kozhikode medical college, where his wife had been admitted for delivery. Viswanathan was beaten up by the mob accusing him of theft. He was found dead after this. The relatives alleged that Viswanathan did not commit suicide and that he was beaten to death. The relatives had also filed a complaint against the security personnel who questioned Viswanathan at the security gate.

The relatives also alleged that when they went to file missing complaint at the Medical College police station, the police asked them if they had come drunk to cause trouble. However, the medical college police explained that there is no mystery in the death, the post-mortem report says that it was suicide and there was no mob attack in the CCTV footage of the hospital.
