THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread fraud has been found in the name of Chief Minister's relief fund. The irregularity was discovered during a lightning inspection by the Vigilance. The lightning inspections were conducted after allegations that many undeserved had received help from the CMDRF.
In Ernakulam district, wealthy expats have been given medical assistance. In Thiruvananthapuram, it was found that assistance was granted in 16 applications filed by an agent from Anchutheng.
Even a liver patient was given treatment aid under the label of a heart patient. Out of 20 applications examined in Kollam, 13 medical certificates were issued by an orthopedic specialist. 1500 certificates were issued by a doctor in Punalur taluk. It was also found that four members of a family were given certificates and received money for treatment in two stages.
