THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty on Wednesday said that grading will be implemented in public schools in the state from the next academic year. Grading will be done by evaluating the school's performance in about 50 subjects such as pass percentage, activity in arts and sports fields, discipline and involvement in social issues. The minister was inaugurating the MLA Educare project under the leadership of Minister Antony Raju in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency.

"Grading aims to improve standards through healthy competition between schools. Discussions were held with teachers' unions and political parties regarding this," Minister Sivankutty said. The minister added that the dispute between the teachers will not be tolerated.
