ALUVA: A complaint has been lodged with the police against actor-politician Suresh Gopi over his controversial remarks against non-believers. The complaint was filed by Alappuzha native Subhash M Theekadan. In his complaint, he demanded that a case should be registered against Suresh Gopi for inciting hatred among the people. The complaint also stated that Suresh Gopi called for riots against non-believers.
Suresh Gopi made the remark against non-believers while attending a function held in connection with the Shivaratri festival in Aluva. Video footage which surfaced on social media showed him saying that he has no love for non-believers and will pray for the destruction of those who come against the faith of believers. Following this, many people on social media criticised him for his hateful remark. The actor-turned-politician later came out claiming that the video was doctored and his remark was misinterpreted.
