KASARGOD: Minister R Bindu has removed Kasaragod Govt College Principal N Rema from her post on the complaint that she had locked up SFI activists in her chamber for complaining of dirt in drinking water. The action was taken after the students besieged the principal for several hours yesterday in protest against the incident that happened last Monday.

Meanwhile, N Rema lodged a complaint with the Kasaragod Town Police alleging that the girl students grabbed her by the neck and threatened to kill her. She also accused the students of insulting her by clicking her photos and spreading them on social media. The police sought permission from the court to register the case.

On Thursday, the students besieged the principal demanding her resignation. Later, Town Inspector P Ajithkumar and his team arrived and moved the students.

Last Monday, about fifteen SFI activists approached the principal, demanding that the drinking water obtained from the filter of the college is contaminated and that a replacement system should be installed. The students complained that the principal used inappropriate language towards them and locked them inside her chamber. The students had also lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission.
