calicut-syndicate-governo

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Albeit the governor not signing the bill that suggested an alternate syndicate for Calicut university, the government is steadfast in its approach to presenting the bill in the assembly session. The bill has been published on the assembly website and the same will be presented on Monday. According to the norms, the chancellor can decide on setting an alternate syndicate for at least one year time after the current syndicate term ends. The bill concerns financial responsibility so it needs approval from the governor before presenting it to the assembly.

According to ACT 203 of the constitution, the government can present the bill and discuss the same in the assembly but only needs approval from the governor before passing the bill. If the governor denies it, the bill will go null. The bill consists of names of ex-officio members and 13 others. While struggling to meet the onus of the financial burden over the bill, the government looks to send the English version of the bill to seek the governor's approval.
