THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A new controversy erupted over Central Committee member EP Jayarajan, who stayed away from the march led by CPM State Secretary MV Govindan, and reached the house of controversial middleman Nandakumar in Kochi.

During the march's tour of Kannur- Kasaragod districts, Jayarajan's absence was the talk of the town. He said that he would participate in the program held in Kozhikode yesterday, but withdrew at the last minute. On Sunday, ahead of the inauguration of the Kasaragod march, the party was left in a quandary when news of Jayarajan's participation in a function honoring the mother of controversial Dallal Nandakumar in Ernakulam emerged. From Lavlin case, Nandakumar is the person who created a crisis in CPM in various ways. Most recently, following the deep sea fishing deal controversy that broke out during the last assembly elections, there was also talk of Nandakumar's supporter's candidature against J Mercykutty Amma in Kundara.

In response to the repeated questions of the media persons who came to see him at his home in Pappinisseri yesterday at 12 noon, Jayarajan clarified that he will participate in the evening program at Koduvalli in Kozhikode. But he did not reach Kozhikode at 4 pm. EP Jayarajan, who thinks that the allegation leveled by P Jayarajan against him in the party state committee during the discussion of the error correction document, is planned, and the people close to him suspect that the state leadership is also behind it. With MV Govindan being elected as the state secretary and then as a member of the Politburo, EP Jayarajan, who has been protesting at various levels, is finally showing anger by boycotting the state-level march led by the party secretary. Jayarajan, who went on a long leave citing health problems, also boycotted the Raj Bhavan blockade by the Left Front. Even later, the CPM remained absent from the leadership meetings. The debate took a different turn when P Jayarajan leveled financial charges against Jayarajan in his absence at the CPM state committee meeting held on December 23 and 24 last.
