NEW DELHI: VD Satheesan responds to CPM State Secretary MV Govindan's allegation that the opposition leader was also involved in the relief fund fraud. VD Satheesan said that he signed as an MLA to get help from the Chief Minister's relief fund for the deserving person. The application was accompanied by a village officer's certificate that the income is less than 2 lakhs, a doctor's certificate that both kidneys are failing, and that the person is undergoing dialysis. The MLA's job is to forward the application that is attached with the certificate of the village officer and doctor to the Chief Minister. The application from the chief minister's office to the village office, after one more check by the village officer and tehsildar, is forwarded to the collectorate and from there to the revenue department, and finally to the chief minister's office. It is not right to insult a poor patient for the sake of insulting me. VD Satheesan said that it was a shame that a person like MV Govindan, without remembering the heftiness of the position he is occupying, announced the news in Desabhimani.
