PEERUMEDU: In Vandiperiyar Sathram forest area, four members of the police team, who had chased the POCSO case accused, got stuck in the forest. After several hours of efforts under the leadership of the fire force, forest department, police and locals, the police officers who were trapped in the thick forest were found. Yesterday afternoon, an eight-member police team including Pampa CI Mahesh and SI, led by Ranni DySP Santosh Kumar, reached the Vandiperiyar Satram forest area through the forest included in the Erumeli range, in search of a tribal youth named Joy, the accused in the POCSO case. During the search, a policeman who was with them felt chest pain and needed rest. Then, the DySP, CI and two policemen came out of the forest, leaving three policemen with him. DySP and his team informed the fire force and Vandiperiyar police after the policemen in the forest did not return after a long time. Then Vandiperiyar Police, Peerumedu Fire Force, Forest Department officials and locals conducted a search for the policemen who were stuck in the forest for several hours. They were found around eight o'clock at the night. They got stuck in the forest which is part of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, which has wild animals like elephants, tigers, and leopards. The unwell police officer who was with them was carried out of the forest by the fire force. They could not be contacted by phone because there is no mobile network.
