KOZHIKODE: The accused in the case of gang raping a differently abled woman in a bus in Chevayoor, has been arrested. Indyesh Kumar, a native of Kundamangalam, who had been absconding for two years after the incident, was arrested. He was taken into police custody from Salem. Two accused in the case were arrested earlier. Indyesh is the second accused in the case.
The accused, who fled the state after the incident was hiding in various places in Tamil Nadu. The police were in search of him for two years. He was traced by a special team jointly led by medical college ACP K Sudarshan and city special action group.
The case is that the woman was gang-raped after she left her house after a fight and taken to a bus on a two-wheeler and gang raped. In the incident, Gopeesh (38) and Muhammad Shameer (32), both natives of Kundamangalam were arrested by city crimes squad and Chevayur Police.
