THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is alleged that after the consolidation of various departments under the LSG department, the redeployment of around 30,000 officers without any preparation and training will cause hardship to the employees and the people. Officers have to move to new offices without getting trained according to the change and without understanding the rules. This will seriously affect the functioning of Gram Panchayats and Municipal Corporations with whom the people are directly connected. The employees of Panchayat, Village Development, Urban Affairs, Local Engineering, Urban Village Planning, and Municipal Common Service Departments are being brought together. The Information Kerala Mission has started codifying the information of employees for relocation.

Those who come from the Rural Development Department are more concerned. The employees going from the Rural Development Department to the Panchayats and Municipal Corporations have no idea about the day-to-day operations there. The work of the Department of Rural Development was only the implementation and supervision of centrally-initiated schemes. From the Village Extension Officer to the Joint Development Commissioner, everyone in this department is proficient in field-level work only. The employees want proper training before transfer.

Consolidation by Salary

It has been alleged that consolidation was done on the basis of pay scale only, without considering the similarity of work. If you replace those who have a short time left to retire, they will retire by the time they learn.
