THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan continues his fight with the government regarding the appointment of Technical University VC. The governor canceled the decisions, including setting up a special committee to control KTU VC Ciza Thomas. The decision was overruled by the special powers of Chancellor. Meanwhile, the syndicate said the governor's action was without seeking an explanation.
The decisions taken by the Syndicate and governing body on January 1 and February 17 to control Vice Chancellor Dr. Ciza Thomas was suspended by the Chancellor under Section 10 of the KTU Act. The decisions of a special committee to control the VC, another committee to check the action of the VC who changed the employees, and to report the letters, sent by the VC to the governor, to the syndicate were blocked. Raj Bhavan sources clarified that the decisions taken with the opposition of the VC were against the rules.
The controversy arose after the governor rejected the government nominees and made Ciza Thomas the VC. Although the government provided a three-member committee to replace Ciza, the Raj Bhavan has not taken a decision on the matter.
