CHENNAI: A Malayali student met with a tragic end after fatally knocked down by a train while crossing the track. The dead is Nikhitha K Siby (19), a native of Puthoor in Kollam and a student of MCC College at Tambaram in Tamil Nadu. Nikitha, a first year BSc psychology student was staying in a hostel in Irumbuliyur.

The incident happened while she was crossing the track near the old railway gate in Irumbuliyur. The preliminary conclusion of the police is that the cause of the accident was that she did not notice the Chennai-Guruvayur Express coming while crossing the track as she was busy on her phone. She died on the spot itself.
