THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Construction of 42,273 houses was completed in this financial year through LIFE mission, the flagship housing project of the state government. These are the figures generated till February 27. According to LIFE Mission, construction of as many as 1677 houses was completed in February alone.

The LIFE Mission aimed to complete 75,000 houses in the 2022-23 financial year. Although it was not able to accomplish this goal due to construction delays, it is making efforts to complete the construction of at least 50,000 houses by the end of the financial year. The government had allotted Rs 990.82 crore for the project in the current financial year. Rs 243.64 was spent till February 15. It is estimated that 24.59 percent of the amount has been utilized. Malappuram district saw the highest number of house constructions in this financial year. Kottayam has come last among the districts. The basement of 9548 houses and the lintel (sunshade) of 10819 houses have been completed. Roof construction of 9459 houses has been completed. There are 48873 beneficiaries in the LIFE 2020 list. Among these, 27598 people have signed the agreement.
