KANNUR: A court has sentenced a 47-year-old man to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a two-and-a-half-year-old girl. It was the Taliparamba POCSO fast-track court that sentenced the accused, a native of Pariyaram, to life imprisonment.

The incident took place in 2016 within the limits of the Pariyaram police station. The court announced the quantum of punishment after strictly directing that the name and other details of the accused must not be publicized.
