THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh told the assembly that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is an unreliable agency and the conviction rate in cases is only 0.5%. Of the raids conducted by the ED since 2014, 95% have been against opposition leaders. Out of 5422 black money cases, only 23 were convicted. Of the 127 political leaders questioned after Modi became Prime Minister, 24 belonged to the Congress. Rahul Gandhi was interrogated for 50 hours. Chidambaram was arrested after breaking into the house and imprisoned for 100 days. Those who protested in Delhi when Sonia was questioned are arguing for ED here. Is Congress not ashamed to carry ED in a palanquin to the house? To use the remand report of ED, it would take extraordinary vehemence. Rajesh said that the opposition is raising allegations that people have rejected many times.
If the ED and CBI were so inept then why did the Chief Minister write to the Prime Minister for an investigation by central agencies, leader of opposition VD Satheesan asked. The government's policy is to keep LIFE Mission quiet. Vigilance cannot investigate the LIFE bribery case, that's spread inside and outside the country. A vigilance investigation was announced to prevent CBI from coming. CBI has not investigated the case for three years. The current ED investigation is questionable. Where were they for three years?
Why is the government trying to protect the accused and oppose the CBI? The events that took place from July 6 to 31, 2019 shed light on the role of the Chief Minister's office. The CBI investigation was stopped because of a compromise. ED digs in every now and then. Satheesan said that if the chief minister is trapped unnecessarily, the opposition will be with him.
Speaker warned CPM's Xavier Chittilappilly, who tried to interrupt when the leader of the opposition VD Satheesan spoke on the Notice of Urgent Motion in connection with the Life Corruption Case.
