THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the office bearers of BSNL Engineers Cooperative Society who committed an investment scam of more than 200 crore rupees. The 6th Additional District Sessions Court dismissed the plea by accepting the government's contention that the extent of the fraud can be ascertained only if the accused are interrogated in custody. The anticipatory bail plea was considered by Judge K Vishnu.
The anticipatory bail petition was filed by KV Prasad Raj, Manoj Krishna, Anil Kumar and Minimol, the members of the society's governing body. The government counsel told the court that it was found in the current investigation that the accused have swindled more than Rs 200 crores by cheating around 2000 investors and giving them fake receipts. The office bearers of the cooperative society have bought properties worth crores with the money swindled from the investors.
