NEW DELHI: The CPM on Thursday said that the BJP managed to get only a narrow victory in Tripura despite the huge inflow of money and irregularities in the state. The Politburo said that it is saluting the people who rejected the BJP and voted for the Left Front and the Opposition. It also stated that the party will function by putting the interests of the people first.
The BJP, which previously won 36 seats, was able to secure 32 seats this time. The opposition claims that the BJP's decrease in seats shows that the party is losing support from the general public. However, the BJP retained power in Tripura after overcoming the anti-incumbency sentiment and the infighting in the party. Meanwhile, Tipra Motha Party prevented the BJP from making major gains in tribal areas.
