News was abound showing the tragedy of a woman carrying surgical scissors inside her stomach for not days but five long grueling years. The incident happened at Kozhikode medical college. The health department ordered an investigation and allotted a panel to work on it. However, things are not settling down well as accusations are handy about the panel trying ways to help the accused doctors out of this quagmire. On September 17, 2022, Harsheena’s midriff was torn open and the scissor saw light. During her third pregnancy, unlike her former times, her family took her to Kozhikode medical college. A cesarean was done and she gave birth to a healthy child. Things were all plain sailing when suddenly, Harsheena started experiencing pain in her stomach. Initially, her family didn’t give much stock since it is quite normal to experience some pain after a cesarean. But the pain never went away but glued to her for years. She started approaching hospital after hospital but to no comfort. Later, an x-ray taken from a private hospital revealed the mystery. They found a scissor stuck inside her stomach, and that too a surgical one used only by doctors.

Harsheena went amok and reached the health department with the complaint. Minister Veena George was quick in her reactions and ordered an investigation with an expert panel. However, the findings came as a shock as the panel confirmed the scissor missing was not from the Kozhikode Medical College. The reason may embarrass many. It says that the register records say no such scissors missing from the medical college on that day.

Harsheena and her family were taken aback by the findings. She even went afar as saying about losing hope with the health department under Veena George. A tearful Haseena then asked the panel and the minister one sheer doubt, “ Are you saying like I swallowed the scissors on purpose?“

The health minister is also a woman, but it seems the long pain and sufferings of Harsheena never reached into the inner corridors of power. The doctors and the panel allotted are alleged to be in an unholy nexus. Meanwhile, Harsheena has been running through officials in a request for due procedures and punishment. If the rules were like in any foreign country, the government here would have been forced to take a loan to pay compensation to the victim. Things are not the same here, but at least the wailing pain and distress of a mother of three should not be suppressed through politics but react with something that the government often clamors about, Humanity.
