THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor Arya Rajendran said that the bricks used for Attukal Pongala will be collected for the LIFE project. It will be assigned to a special squad. Stones will be collected during cleaning. The mayor also said that those who collect stones illegally will be fined.

More toilets will be set up on the occasion of Pongala. The mayor added that samples have been collected and sent for testing to check the adulteration of the pottery used for Pongala. Meanwhile, KSEB has issued a security advisory for those coming to Attukal Pongala. KSEB informed that Pongala should be performed only by maintaining a safe distance from transformers. The notice says to maintain a certain distance from the enclosure of the transformers and not to rest or store materials there.

Just like transformers, electricity posts also need to be taken care of. Be careful not to place Pongala under electricity poles. Garbage should also be avoided under transformers and electric posts. The organizers should place the lights and decorations at a height out of the reach of the public. Do not install electric lamps in such a way that they pass through gates, iron pillars, grills, and metal boards.

Lamps should not be placed on electricity poles. Good quality wires and switchboards should be used for sound and lighting systems. Care should be taken to assign the task only to authorized contractors. KSEB said that the above safety instructions should be strictly followed by those performing the Attukal Pongala and participating in the festival.
