ISLAMABAD: Reports said former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan reportedly made opportunities for friends and relatives to earn crores during his rule even when the country was in a severe financial crunch. The News International revealed this with evidence. The report said the wealth of his wife's close friend Farhat Shahzadi rose during Imran's rule. Shahzadi and her family were busy expanding their businesses in other nations and registering companies in the United Kingdom when Imran Khan was asking overseas Pakistanis to invest in the country. They invested only very little in their own country.

Shahzadi and her family registered four companies in Britain in connection with real estate business during the tenure of Imran. From 2019 to 2021, Farhat's sister registered three companies and Farhat Shahzadi and her husband registered one. Farhat Shahzadi's sister Musarat Khan owns around half a dozen companies in Britain. She and her husband, who are presently abroad, face serious corruption allegations. The main allegation is that Farhat Khan and her husband acquired the company to launder black money. However, Imran says that all this is political victimization by the present government.

Meantime, dramatic scenes unfolded in Lahore yesterday over the arrest of Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. The incidents started when the Islamabad police arrived at Imran Khan's residence in Zaman Park in Lahore yesterday at 1 pm Indian time with an arrest warrant. When the police reached his residence, Shibli Faraz, Imran's chief of staff and senator, told police that he was not there. Following this, after handing over the notice, the police camped outside the gate of the residence.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, the party workers formed a cordon in front of the residence. Islamabad sessions and district courts have issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran. The action was after Imran continued to fail to appear in the hearings of the Toshakhana case. The court ordered that Imran be taken into custody and produced on Tuesday. The police said that those who prevent his arrest will be subjected for a trial. The police also decided not to leave empty-handed, stationed themselves in front of the residence. The directive to the allies were to remain in front of the residence till 10 pm. PTI has warned that there will be massive protests in the country if he is arrested.

Home Minister Rana Sanaullah said the police came to arrest Imran as per the court order and the government has nothing to do with it. When the police were in front of his residence, Imran, who was invisible until then, addressed his workers at his residence around 5 pm, which complicated the dramatic scenes.
