ARANMULA: A man was arrested for growing five cannabis plants at his house. He was living in a hut in micha bhoomi (surplus land). Kozhencherry Keezhukara native Podiyan (68) was arrested by Excise in connection with this. The action was taken on the basis of a tip-off received by Pathanamthitta Excise CI.

The cannabis cultivation was near to Podiyan's house. The plants grew up to 31 cm height. Excise Officers Subhash Kumar, Niyad S Pasha, Jayachandran and driver Satheesan participated in the raid.
