THRISSUR: An accused was seriously injured after he jumped from the police jeep to escape while being taken to the custody centre. Thiruvananthapuram Valiyathura native Sanu Soni (30) was admitted to the medical college with serious head injuries. He was taken into custody by the East Police for threatening people with a knife in the city under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened on Wednesday night.

Sanu tried to escape by jumping from the jeep at the Ashwani hospital junction while he was being taken to the Viyyur Jail custody centre. He was rushed to the medical college in the same vehicle. The police said Sanu is an accused in many cases within the limits of the Valiyathura police station.
