THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP will conduct an investigation into the incident regarding the leak of personal information of school students and teachers. DGP Anil Kant handed over the complaint filed by KITE CEO Anwar Sadath to Rural SP D Shilpa for a detailed investigation.
As per the complaint, the personal information of the students and teachers of a prominent aided school in Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram, was leaked. The incident came to light on February 28 when a group called 'Team Insane PK' hacked the students' personal information and posted it on Twitter. The data which can be seen upon logging into the Sampoorna portal, which contains information about schools in the state, has been leaked. It is suspected that the children's names, photos, identity card numbers, classes, phone numbers, parents' names, employee details etc. have been leaked along with the login details of the software used to conduct the SSLC IT exam. Some of the parents contacted the school authorities after they received a WhatsApp message from a number similar to the one in Pakistan. Although the headmistress lodged a complaint with the Kattakkada police, no action was taken. Following this, she contacted KITE under the Public Education Department. KITE then lodged a complaint with the DGP.
Anwar Sadath said that data was leaked only from this school. He also said that there are no problems with the database of the education department.
