HAMBURG: Shooting at a Christian church in the German city of Hamburg. Several people are reported to have died in the shooting that took place around 8:15 pm local time (12:45 am IST on Friday). The police have not released the exact death toll. According to the police, the assailant is among the dead. The exact motive of the attack is unknown.
When the police reached the church after getting the information, they found that many people had been shot down. At this time, gunshots were heard from the top of the building. A dead body was found there. It is assumed that it may belong to the shooter.
This is the biggest massacre in the country in the last three years. In December 2016, 12 people were killed when a lorry hit the Christmas market. In 2019, two men attacked a synagogue and in 2020, a man shot dead 10 people and injured five others in the city of Hanau.
