KOCHI: Ernakulam district collector N S K Umesh has announced a three-day holiday for educational institutions in Kochi and nearby areas from Monday as the toxic smoke caused by the fire in Brahmapuram waste plant has not been completely extinguished. The collector said the holiday is not applicable for SSLC, VHSE, higher secondary plus one and plus two public and university exams.
As part of health precautions, all educational institutions including professional colleges of Vadavukode-Puthankurisu Gram Panchayat, Kizhkkambalam Gram Panchayat, Kunnthunad Gram Panchayat, Thrikkakara Municipality, Tripunithura Municipality, Maradu Municipality, Kalamassery Municipality and Kochi Municipal Corporation will be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Anganwadis, kindergarten, day care centres, government, aided and unaided, CBSE and ICSE Schools will remain closed on these three days.
