NEW DELHI: With the Brahmapuram fire becoming an environmental and health issue Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan sought the central government's intervention. Muraleedharan held talks with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya regarding the Brahmapuram issue. He called for urgent intervention, including in studying environmental impact.
Muraleedharan said that they held talks on various matters such as the operation of the plant without compliance with waste management regulations and corruption in awarding contracts.
"The situation in Kochi is very serious and thousands of people have to leave the city. More than a thousand people have sought treatment in hospitals," he said.
