PUTHUKKAD: The police arrested three people including the accused in criminal cases under suspicious circumstances with the help of locals. The three of them arrived at Maravanchery on a bus and went to a nearby house. They said that one of the them is terminally ill an asked for financial assistance for treatment. The woman was alone at the house during that time. Realizing that no one was there, the group demanded to pay at least Rs 50. The plan was to attack her and rob the house while she entered the house to take money.
In the meantime, their robbery plan was foiled when the woman’s relative arrived. A local youth who came this way recognized the Kattoor native of the gang. He informed the locals immediately. The locals observed the trio and informed the police. Then the police came and arrested the three. Sayooj (39), a resident of Edathuruthi, Anish (25), a resident of Chemmapilly, and Prakashan (64), a resident of Kattoor, were arrested on Monday afternoon.
Chalakudy DYSP CR Santhosh said that among those arrested, Sayooj is accused in around 20 criminal cases in various stations and Anish is accused in six cases including a theft case. The accused were produced in court.
