rema-and-uma

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KK Rema and Uma Thomas bravely confronted the assaults on the opposition MLAs in front of the Speaker's office. The two, who stood firm despite being attacked and assaulted, questioned the prowess of the Watch and Ward.

Rema came to the press conference along with the opposition party leaders with her injured hand in a sling. An urgent motion notice was given by Uma Thomas citing the increasing violence against women and girls. KK Rema said that her hand was injured from a kick by CPM member H Salam. Rema demanded that five women watch and wards grabbed her by the hand and leg, dragged and assaulted her, and that the speaker should answer to this. Rema, who was in the middle of the conflict for three-and-a-half hours, went to the assembly clinic and tied her hand with a cloth around her neck, and put it in a sling. Later she sought treatment at the General Hospital.

The Watch and Wards tried several times to drag Uma Thomas and Rema and remove them by force, but both of them bravely faced the brutality. Uma was shouting loudly not to touch her body. Both of them shouted at the Additional Chief Marshal who tried to assault Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan. Rema said that the issue was caused by the Watch and Ward abusing Thiruvanchoor.
