THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The plea filed by Dr. Ciza Thomas against the government issuing a show cause notice for violating the rules was rejected. The Kerala Administrative Tribunal clarified that the show cause notice cannot be canceled and the government can take further action. The tribunal added that the government should hear the side of Ciza Thomas before taking action.

The show-cause notice was issued for Ciza Thomas in connection with her taking over the temporary charge of KTU VC without the permission of the state government. An explanation was sought for violating the law as a government official. On March 16, the tribunal had directed that the petition filed against this by Ciza should be answered within a week. At that time, it was directed that the government should file a reply to the petition and no action should be taken until the case is reconsidered. Following that when the case was heard today, Siza's plea was rejected.

Governor Arif Muhammad Khan appointed CizaThomas as the temporary KTU VC in November when she was the senior joint director of the technical education department. Ciza Thomas will retire from this role and from her service tomorrow.
