CHATHANNOOR: Kannur railway police has caught students who were travelling to Ooty after the SSLC examination without informing their parents. The five-member gang, including girls, reached the Kollam railway station last Wednesday after changing their school uniforms. They wanted to go to Ooty, but they didn't know which train to board.

They boarded on Nizamuddin Express after buying tickets to Kannur. The gang had only 2500 rupees with them. The train reached Kannur railway station around 11.30 pm but they stayed inside. Just before the departure of the train, the railway police arrested the students following the instructions given by the Chathannoor CI Shivakumar over the phone. They were handed over to the Chathannoor police. Two girls and a boy were produced in the Paravoor court and released along with their parents. The other two were subjected to counselling.
