Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, was embroiled in a controversy even before it hit the theatres. The controversy arose over the colour of the bikini, saffron, worn by Deepika in the song Besharam Rang from the film. Many complaints were lodged at various police stations alleging that the song is insulting to Hindus and does not belong to Indian culture. A case was filed against the film on the complaint of a native of Mumbai. Now, Pathaan's director Siddharth Anand has revealed the reason why the colour saffron was chosen for the bikini.

"We were in Spain and I picked that costume just randomly. But I never imagined all this would happen.", Siddharth said.

"The colour of the outfit looked nice as it was a sunny day, the grass was green and water was blue. That was the logic behind it," he added.

Released on January 25, the film has collected more than Rs 1000 crores globally, according to collection reports. Pathaan surpassed the weekend records of Rajamouli film Baahubali (127 crores) and KGF 2 (140 crores). The film earned 55 crores on the day of its release. Pathaan also broke the record of the Hindi version of KGF 2, which collected Rs 53.95 crores.
