The news about South Indian actor Samantha getting rejected when she auditioned for Dileep starrer film ‘Crazy Gopalan’ in 2008, had created a lot of buzz on social media. It was said that she attended the screen test but was later opted out. The interviews of Dileep and director Deepu Karunakaram affirming the same had gone viral. Now Samantha herself has responded on the issue.

Samantha had visited Kochi for the promotion of her movie ‘Shaakunthalam’, which will hit the theaters on April 14. The actor was responding to question about how she feels when looking back after facing a rejection in a Dileep film.

“I remember being rejected from many auditions. I have conveniently forgotten all of them. But I do remember facing a lot of rejections initially in my career.”, said Samantha.

She said that working with Malayalam actors is like going to an acting school. “Actors usually have a rhythm. But Malayali actors will surprise you. We would think that Fahadh Fazil will do this. But he won't, he will perform differently. Most Malayali actors have that edge in acting. It is very inspiring.”, she stated.

Dileep once said in an interview that a girl cried a lot after getting rejected from a film and he told her not to get disappointed and try harder. He stated that the two heroines he once told this are now successful actors in South Indian cinema.

Later, the film’s director Deepu Karunakaran also said that Samantha was the actor who got rejected from ‘Crazy Gopalan’ as they needed someone taller for the role.
