THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President K Sudhakaran MP has demanded that the Lokayukta should resign immediately in the context of public opinion. Lokayukta, which is Kerala's master weapon to fight corruption, has failed completely in the administration of justice. A strange verdict like this, filled with absurdities to protect the chief minister who led the corruption, is a dark chapter in the judicial history of Kerala.

This judgment was given by the eloquent members of the Lokayukta, who have worked for a long time in the Supreme Court and the High Court. Why did they give such an erroneous verdict is the new topic of discussion among crowds. The resignation is being demanded at a time when people's faith in the justice system is falling day by day.

The two-member bench moved the case that was already decided upon by a full bench, to another full bench. The answer to who is getting protected by this is as clear as day. The Kerala society is kept in the dark by not clarifying who in the two-member bench is in favor or against. People are wondering why these facts are being hidden. All the proceedings of the Lokayukta are shrouded in mystery. Every step taken to protect the Chief Minister raises a thousand questions. The judgment of the full bench of Lokayukta does not have information on when the case will even be considered. The final arguments in the case were heard from 2019 to 2022. It was clear which way the wind was blowing when no further discussions were made on the case for a year after this, Sudhakaran said.

In 2019, Lokayukta Justice Pius Kuriakos and Deputy Lokayukta Justice KP Balachandran took the stand that the Lokayukta can investigate the relief fund fraud, while Upa-Lokayukta AK Basheer took the stand that it should not. Lokayukta took the decision in the relief fund fraud case based on the majority decision, by including the positions of all three. The stances of all three of them came out clearly back then, but that was not made even a model right now, Sudhakaran pointed out.
