KOLKATA: Clashes erupted in West Bengal during a Ram Navami themed procession carried out by BJP. The conflict erupted after stones were pelted at the BJP's procession in Hooghly. BJP National vice president Dilip Ghosh participated in the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra held today. Footage of people running away from the stone pelting during the attack came out on social media.
It is reported that many vehicles were damaged in the stone pelting.
Clashes broke out on Thursday between two groups during a procession held in Howrah when a Ram Navami procession was passing through Kazipara. After the violent stone pelting, the attackers set fire to the vehicles and the police fired tear gas. At the same time, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of being behind the clashes . In the wake of the conflict in Howrah, she had accused the BJP of bringing in goons from outside the state.
