KOZHIKODE: A Wayanad native was arrested for befriending girls through Instagram to sexually assault them later. Umrul Mukthar( 23) was arrested after a Koduvally native woman complained to the police about Mukthar leaving with one sovereign gold after meeting through Instagram.

Mukhtar will first promise marriage to his lady victims which will make it easy to guide them to sexual pleasures. Then it will lead to him asking for favors including gold to help start a business. After the scene, there will be no Mukthar and his Instagram will be changed. The police after receiving complaints worked on the case to arrive at a few such accounts. Mukthar was nabbed after getting sufficient evidence. Police say his lady victims are many but few came up fearing humiliation in public.

Mukthar has been remanded.
