THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A video of forest department trainees trying to catch a king cobra in an unscientific manner is going viral on social media. The department advises that the snakes should be caught following the scientific method only. It is alleged that this advice was not followed in this case. This primitive performance by the trained ones is seen when the forest department is keeping their distance from Vava Suresh on the argument that he was catching snakes unscientifically.

It was a king cobra that climbed a tamarind tree in Idinjar near Ponmudi that was handled in such a careless manner. In the video, it was seen that the snake was tossed several times while they were trying to put it in the sack. The snake was ready to strike as well. The performance lasts for about an hour and a half. The forest department says that it is wrong to hold a snake by hand, and if you catch it by the tail, it can lead to a broken spine and cause damage to the vertebrae.

The forest department has instructed that one should have a training certificate issued by them if they want to catch a snake. The department had mentioned that since Vava Suresh did not participate in their theory class, he was not eligible to catch snakes and action would be taken if he tries to. The snake was caught in such a dangerous manner by those who have a training certificate and the ones who are training others. On November 28th, the forest department had filed a case against Vava Suresh for exhibiting a cobra in a class at the Kozhikode Medical College.

"There is no scientific or unscientific method in catching snakes. I have seen many videos where snakes are handled immaturely by the ones trained by the forest department. There is no point in filing a complaint. Only when Vava Suresh grabs the tail does the snake's spine and vertebrae get injured. There is nothing wrong when they do it.
