KOZHIKODE: A tragic turn in the incident where an unidentified persion set his fellow passengers on fire in the Alappuzha-Kannur Express train. Three dead bodies were found between Elathur station and Korapuzha Bridge. It is indicated that these are the dead bodies of those who jumped out when the person set fire inside the train. The bodies of a man, a woman and a child were found near the bridge where the accident occurred. Relatives have identified the deceased as a woman from Kannur and her nephew. The man's body has not been identified. The dead bodies were transferred to the Kozhikode Medical College after the procedures were completed.

The incident took place after a fight broke out between three passengers in the D1 coach of the train.The railway police and fire force have admitted the injured to the Kozhikode Medical College. The seriously injured passenger named Prince is in Baby Memorial Hospital. Anil Kumar, a native of Thalassery, his wife Sajisha, son Advaith, Thaliparambu native Ruby, and Thrissur native Aswathy were also injured. In total, nine people have suffered burns.

Locals said that the person who started the fire escaped after passengers pulled the chain to stop the train. According to the eyewitness, the assailant had two bottles of kerosene, wore a red cap and shirt.

City police commissioner Rajpal Meena said the police have begun the search for the accused. The train was shifted to Koyilandi station.
