KOZHIKODE: The police have hinted that the accused, who set his fellow passengers on fire in a moving train in Kozhikode, is not the person seen on the CCTV footage. It is learned that a Kappad native student was the one seen in the CCTV footage. The CCTV footage surfaced two hours after the incident took place. The police are assessing that the accused is not likely to stay for two hours in a place where a large number of policemen and a crowd are present. It is reported that the police have concluded the investigation focusing on the CCTV footage.

The police had earlier released the sketch of the accused. The sketch was drawn on the basis of the information provided by witness Rasik. The sketch shows a picture of a bald man wearing a red and black checked shirt. According to Rasik, the accused has a height of around 150 cm and was wearing a long shirt. He also said that the accused attacked his fellow passengers without any provocation. The police have handed over the sketch to the railway police. The sketch will be displayed at all public places, including railway stations.

The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. All CIs in the district have been included in the investigation team.
