THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A group of local leaders of the CPM shouted in front of the police station at midnight while demanding to see a DYFI local leader who was taken into custody for creating a ruckus in a street food stall. The incident took place in front of the Pettah police station at around 11.30 pm on Sunday. Following the incident, the police registered a case against CPM Aattuvarambu branch secretary Ratheesh on the complaint of Sukesh, who was on duty at the police station.
According to the police, the DYFI local committee member and friends got involved in a dispute with the owner and employees of a street food stall at Chacka on Sunday night. The Pettah police reached the spot and took the DYFI leader and gang into custody after they threatened the owner of the food stall and his wife.
Later, an eight-member gang, led by two CPM branch secretaries, arrived at the police station and demanded the police to let them see the DYFI leader. However, the police did not allow them to see the DYFI leader. Following this, the gang members shouted at the police and attempted to enter the station using force. Ratheesh was heard shouting at the police, "Who are you to speak against the CPM branch secretary..."
The police did not register the case against the DYFI leader as the owner of the food stall has not lodged a complaint.
