THRISSUR: A youth has been arrested for carrying two and a half liters of petrol at the Thrissur railway station. The youth arrested came in Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Island Express. The railway police force arrested Xavier Varghese from Kottayam. The youth reached Thrissur from Bengaluru. He had earlier parceled his bike in the train. The youth in his statement said that he stored the petrol which was in the bike to this bottle as a vehicle parceling should not have petrol.
Meantime, the interrogation of Shahrukh Saifi, who is in custody in the case of setting fire to the train at Elathur in Kozhikode, is still continuing. The investigation by the special squad formed is led by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar. However, the police have not yet confirmed whether Saifi in custody is the real accused.
The incident that shocked the country happened on the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express at Elathur in Kozhikode around 9:30 pm on Sunday. The accused disappeared after pouring petrol on the passengers in the running train and setting them on fire. It is hinted that Saifi, a Noida man, who was working as a carpenter in Kozhikode, is behind the act. The investigating team have not yet confirmed it. DGP Anil Kant said they have obtained some information about the accused and will be arrested soon.
