Actress Rima Kallingal’s ‘fried fish statement’ led to trolls on the social media. Her statement was to point gender discrimination in houses. The actress in an interview revealed that the statement pained her parents a lot.
‘My parents instilled in me the idea that if there are three fish fries in a table where four are sitting, the four should share and eat it. If I was in a situation where I couldn't have fish fry continuously, I would have adapted to it. I would believe that I didn't get it. However, that was not the case in my house. There was a space at home where we could say that was wrong. Although my father and mother grew up in this society, I was brought up by changing what they could change from within it. That is why I am speaking here today.
I had clearly stated that the fish fry issue is not to blame my mother. She said that she came here to speak for women who cannot speak for themselves. If there were four fish fries on the plate, my mother would give it to me without eating it. This is what happens in all houses. I am speaking for them as well. However, people don't want to know that. They just want something to troll,' said Rima Kallingal.
