Corrupts won't see their halcyon days back said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The prime minister assured of providing a free pass for the agencies to move ahead with punitive actions against anyone irrespective of the political stature he upholds. The prime minister was speaking while inaugurating the diamond jubilee celebrations of CBI in Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. Modi made euphoric statements on how the CBI metamorphosed to become the ambassador of justice during the period of BJP rule.
CBI for decades was called 'caged parrots'. The government in power pulled the strings for the agencies to act. However, there is no question regarding the precision work carried out by the central agencies and it is much palpable when people beseech for CBI inquiry showing little trust in the local investigation. Such is the legend that the agencies carry forward. It is only the intrusion of government players that tamper the efficacy of the investigation. However, Narendra Modi has vouched to keep the CBI free from the shackles of power. He has asked the officials to charge any corrupt one, caring less about the stature and political prowess they have in public.
It may seem like corruption is far less spreading under the current Modi government. However, there are ample shreds of evidence to point to the contrary. Many regional leaders are still garnering lucre with impunity. The political cohort they cultivated for years helped them find a wiggle room to mint money. The CBI of today is changed, gloats Modi. But the same agaecy run amok when it comes to arresting opposition but seldom act agaiant BJP leaders. The agency should have the nerves to reach the restricted pathways leading to many corrupt empires inside the 1.2 billion populated India. In the 60 years of service, through scientific means and pin-pointed precision, CBI has solved a sundry of cases. The belief is still strong about the agency moving in the right path of justice.
