PALODE: The police arrested 5 people who tried to smuggle 10 litres of arrack from the Idinjar forest area in Brimore in an Innova car. The group also had a gun with them. The arrested have been identified as Deepu (40) of Deepu Vilasam in Karikkakom, Vishnu (33) of Krishna Vilasam in Kallippara in Nandiyode, Shaji (51) of SK Bhavan in Vamanapuram's Kariveli, Arun (44) of Shaji Vilasam in Bharathannoor and Nikhil Raj (34) of Nikhil Bhavan in Thazhambannoor in Bharathannoor.

The vehicle was caught during a vehicle inspection based on a tip-off received by the police. The gun was used for security purposes for smuggling illegal goods. Station officer P Shajimon informed that an investigation is being carried out regarding the license of the gun and the source of illegal goods.
