KOZHIKODE: The police investigation on the Kozhikode train fire is focusing on a native of Noida. At the same time, the NIA does not rule out the chance of a terror attack.
The NIA found out that youths who have ISIS links and involved in the 2017 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast, came to Kozhikode two months ago and stayed here. Security inspections have been tightened in the trains.
A four-member team comprising two CIs of the state police will be sent to Noida today to gather information about the accused. The investigation team concluded that he had come to Kerala only to conduct the attack. It is not sure whether the accused has left Kerala. Delhi Police reached his house and collected evidence. Railway Police from Kerala is also collecting details.
The NIA team that reached Kannur inspected the two coaches where the fire occurred. The notes and items in the bag suspected to have been left by the accused were also inspected. Cyber Forensic team of NIA is also conducting preliminary investigation.
The entries in the diary found inside the bag is a main lead in the probe. The police also checked the mobile phone found on spot.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the father of the alleged accused had filed a missing complaint with the Delhi police.
The special investigation team chief ADGP MR Sreejith said that the probe is ongoing and nothing much can be revealed.
Police are investigating in the areas of Kozhikode and Kochi, but neither locals nor migrant labourers have identified anyone resembling the sketch.
