THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC has deployed 131 new superfast buses on Tuesday. The buses will have additional arrangements including an announcement system which tells about the departure time, route, platform number.
The driver is in charge of the announcement. The speaker is attached on the backside of the bus. Apart from this, five cameras, mobile charging units in seats, GPS and I-alert to monitor buses are also additional arrangements.
The bus is 12 metre long with tubeless tyres. It has 55 seats and has a screen to feature ads. The buses are manufactured by a Bengaluru based company and the cost of one bus is Rs 38 lakh. The state has spent Rs 50 crore for the scheme. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan flagged off the buses in a ceremony held at Thycaud police ground.
