RAIPUR: The police team investigating the home theatre explosion in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha has found that the explosive-laden home theatre was presented as a wedding gift by ex-lover of the bride. The gruesome act resulted in the death of 22-year-old Hemendra Merawi, the groom and his brother Raj Kumar (30).

Hemendra Merawi got married on April 1 and the blast occurred when he switched on the home theatre system. Hemendra died on the spot. His brother Rajkumar was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to the injuries. Four people, including a toddler were injured in the blast and they are currently undergoing treatment.

After the preliminary inquiry, Police have come to the conclusion that the home theatre was filled with explosives. The probe team then checked the details of those having presented gifts to the newly married couple. Eventually, they zeroed in on Sarju, the ex-lover of the bride and questioned him. Sarju confessed to the crime and told the police that he executed the blast to take revenge after the girl ditched him and married Hemendra Merawi. Sarju has been arrested.
