shahrukh-saifi

NEW DELHI: Shahrukh Saifi, who was arrested from Ratnagiri in the Elathur train attack case, and the youth, who went missing from Shaheen Bagh, are the same. Shahrukh's father and other relatives have confirmed this. The police and the Kerala ATS team, who reached Shahrukh's house in Shaheen Bagh, found that the handwriting in the books found in the room is the same as the handwriting in the book found on the railway track in Elathur.

Shahrukh Saifi went missing from Shaheen Bagh on March 31. On April 2, Shahrukh's father Fakrudheen lodged a missing complaint with the Shaheen Bagh police. It was also found that the phone discovered in Elathur was switched off on March 30. This helped the probe team to confirm that Shahrukh Saifi is the accused in the train attack case.

Shahrukh's father told the media that his son had not gone to Kerala before.

"He studied till Class 12. He can somehow handle the English language. He took several books and other stuff from home. He doesn't have any mental health issues. He used to do carpentry works with me," Fakrudheen said.

Fakrudheen said that he came to know about the train attack and related developments only when the police arrived at his house. He also said that Shahrukh should be given strict punishment if he is found guilty.

A diary and another phone of the accused are currently in the custody of the Shaheen Bagh police. The police will soon hand over these things to the Kerala ATS. Shahrukh Saifi is a native of Gautam Buddh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
